While some have been labelling Shenseea the 'next Rihanna' and next big thing from the Caribbean, her long-time manager Romeich Major is steering clear of predictions.

"We just a work and a do the best music," he told THE WEEKEND STAR. "She a put in as much work as possible. Fi even get compared to Rihanna just shows how big it is fi even can be in the same category and conversation. That shows that she is doing very good work, so we nav nuh predictions. We nah do nothing fi seh we a go be nuh 'queen'. We nah do nothing fi seh we a go be the 'princess of the Caribbean'. We just waan know when people seh Shenseea, dem can seh 'that international artiste from Jamaica that we love'. That we a deal with."

Major has expressed confidence that Shenseea's debut studio album Alpha will do "good, great and excellent". The project is slated for release by Rich Immigrants/Interscope Records next month.

"It a guh bad," he said. "It's gonna be an album that's very different from the norm of a dancehall artiste. It's a mixture of different types of music but will still have dancehall and international songs ... you're going to hear the different types of music, and you're going to respect her pon a different level after dah album yah release."

Shenseea has been giving fans an inkling of her artistic dimensions in recent times, with audiovisual projects including Lick (featuring Megan Thee Stallion), Be Good, Run Run and You're the One I Love, all expected to appear on Alpha. Conversations surrounding her first full-length offering have been ongoing since 2018, but Major said it was important to prepare quality work which showcases her versatility.

"A lot of these artistes release an album for just hype and to state that they have made an album," he said. "We a release the album fi show a next level of the artiste. We a release the album and a do her first album so she can be bigger and better for the next album. It's just growth and still growth."
