Sasique enjoys Kim Kardashian endorsement on TikTok
TikTok users, including American personality and businesswoman Kim Kardashian and British pop star Rita Ora, have been won over by Sasique's 2019 single, Kute and Neat (Pose).
The fast-rising female singjay told THE STAR that TikTok has "changed the game" in the way she interacts with fans globally and gets her music further into the international space.
"TikTok is a very powerful platform that has transformed the music industry in such a way where I, and other artistes as well, have not had to depend on other producers or mediums to promote your music. It trends on its own," Sasique said. "It has brought me recognition I never imagined. As for the track, it can only get bigger. I believe it will put my name on the lips of the world."
Kardashian, who has been making international headlines because of her controversial conflict with rap mogul ex-husband Kanye West, actually posted a video of two of their children doing a quick TikTok using catchy lines from the single.
"Usually when we're at parties, photographers would take our pictures. If the first one does not look pleasing to the eyes, we would say, 'Give me another one', and I'd normally look at it and ask, 'You like that one or would you like another one?' And that's where the lyrics stem from...just the whole concept of giving multiple options when posing for a camera," the artiste explained.
Sasique added, "It's also my way of encouraging females to be confident and proud of themselves in a way where they're not afraid to take multiple pictures, in an effort to highlight their beauty or whatever accomplishments they are proud of. So I'm humbled and honoured that the song has reached that far globally, and that celebrities and their children, such as Kim Kardashian, who is always empowering females through social media, participated in the trend. I feel elated."
A shorter version of the music video for the track, which was shot by Terminal4 Media, was released on October 8, in time for its three-year anniversary. Sasique anticipates that along with the endorsements from popular personalities and other TikTok users, this will help to solidify her imprint as one of the next positive and sexy female entertainers coming out of the dancehall.
"Right now, I think there's a balance of music coming out of the dancehall; it's all a matter of different folks, different strokes. People just have to search hard for what they like. But we do need more fun music, because the 'chopping' songs [are] taking over the parties and females hardly have the opportunity to dance to fun songs," Sasique said.
