Trinidad and Tobago artiste, songwriter, and composer Joeane Archer, known as Jo Archer, is embracing reggae with the release of the single You on January 13.

The single is gaining mainstream traction in the Caribbean and Africa, making its way on to several major platforms, such as Tempo and Reggaeville. The single is produced by Mackeehan Solomon and Irie Souljah and the video was filmed by Desron Clarke in Tobago, her home. With February being Reggae Month, the release is timely.

"The significance of Reggae Month is to highlight and celebrate the impact of reggae as a musical genre on Jamaica's social, cultural, and economic development. For me, reggae is a lifestyle," said Jo Archer. The video highlights the singer's love for mother nature and pays homage to the relaxed lifestyle of islanders.

Despite growing up with her mother, Jo Archer revealed that most of her musical background came from her father's side of the family.

"At the age of 12, I began to express myself through singing. I joined my secondary school choir, the community church choir and entered local talent competitions. I later studied vocal production at The Berklee Online College of Music, and Music Business at the Point Blank Online School of Music," she said. Famed artistes like Beres Hammond, Duane Stephenson, Shaniel Muir, Ce'Cile, and Fantasia are a few of her inspirations.

Following collaborations with Duane Stephenson, Sherita Louis and Qyor, Jo Archer is now looking to make her mark in the music industry.
