Masicka ready to explode at Reggae Sumfest
Genahsyde Records artiste Masicka is one of the most highly anticipated acts for Dancehall Night of The Greatest Reggae Show on Earth, Reggae Sumfest, on Friday, July 22, at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex, Montego Bay, St James.
He is arguably the top dancehall artiste in Montego Bay, St James, because of his gun-slinging rhymes and 'rude bwoy' braggadocio; so he is expected to get a huge ovation at Reggae Sumfest.
"I am looking forward to Sumfest, I'm going to show all the negative people that say young artistes can't perform, that this young artiste can. I'm going to 'shell it down'. Trust me, I've been fighting for my spot in the business and my time is now. I'm going to show them why I'm the young general," Masicka said.
He is expected to get massive 'forwards' for songs such as Hardball, Everything Mi Want, Such Is Life and Buss The Cylinda, which are already chart anthems here and overseas.
After pulling out almost 800 patrons for a club show in Toronto two weeks ago, Masicka is one of a new vanguard of artistes that promoters have begun to bank on to fill venues here and overseas.
"Right now, the thing gone mainstream, my fan base is truly international," he said.
Masicka recently landed international collaborations with American R&B artiste Fantasia, and another with hip hop artiste Busta Rhymes and Kick Rocks, who is known for his work with Major Lazer.
"New videos are coming for Tyler and Puffy Story Part 3, Fly Ova Dem and we shot a video for To Di Top in Canada with a Lamborghini and a Ferrari," he said.
Masicka is booked to appear at this year's Dream Weekend, plus he has a tour organised for England this summer.
