Antenna stolen from radio station Bjorn Burke
A man accused of stealing parts of broadcasting antenna belonging to a local radio station had his bail extended when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Charged with simple larceny is 53-year-old Patrick Smythe.
Allegations are that on March 26, at approximately 7 p.m., the accused man was reportedly seen riding a bicycle away from 56 Arnold Road, Kingston 4, where the radio station is located. It is reported that security guards saw the accused man with a piece of iron pole, which is a section of a broadcasting antenna.
It is said that an alarm was made and the man questioned by guards, to which Smythe reportedly said he had received permission to remove the piece of iron. Following checks made, it was revealed that this was not so.
Further checks revealed that seven sections of the antenna, valuing $187,500, were missing from the property.
The matter was reported to the police and the accused man was arrested and charged.
In court, Smythe had his bail extended by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey until November 19.
A fingerprint order was also made against him.
