A man accused of battering a policeman had his bail extended when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court on Friday.

Kemar Smith, 27, of Denham Town, Kingston 14, pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault occasioning bodily harm and assaulting a police officer.

Allegations are that Smith was being held at the Hunts Bay Police lock up for the offence of being armed with an offensive weapon. While being processed in the lock up, it is said that he hit a constable in the face causing a huge contusion.

A mention date of January 1, 2016 was set because the medical and a copy of the sick leave receipt are outstanding.
