According to commanding officer of Clarendon, Senior Superintend Fitz Bailey, a police team was on patrol in the New Town area of Hayes, when a man was stopped and searched and a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol with nine rounds seized.

The man, whose name is being withheld pending investigations, was taken into custody.

36 9mm rounds

And in an operation in the Seven Roads (Farm) area of May Pen, on Monday, the police, after searching a premise, seized 36 9mm rounds and arrested and charged a man and his female companion for illegal possession of ammunition.

The commanding officer said the current operation is a win-win situation for everyone, and pledged to restore the parish to a place to raise family, do business and play by pursuing criminal elements through collaboration with citizens.

"We will maintain our high visibility especially in the crime hotspots as we seek to reassure citizens that the police are out there, however, we can't do it alone. We need the citizens' participation because the fight is a win-win situation for everyone," said Bailey.
