Two illegal guns seized in St. James

The St James police netted two illegal guns, a rifle and a pistol during a special New Years Eve gun campaign in the parish.

According to police reports, lawmen went to Norwood in the parish, where one M16 rifle along with 16 rounds of ammunition were seized.

During another operation in Mount Salem, the police also seized a 9mm pistol and 12 rounds of ammunition.

One man has been arrested in relation to the seizure.

Head of the St James Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Steve McGregor, said the successful operation was aimed at clamping down on illegal guns used for gun salutes on New Year's Eve.
