'Mr Chin' allegedly burns man's house down after dispute
A heated argument that allegedly escalated into a bottle-and-stone fight has landed a 27-year-old St James labourer in hot water after a man’s two-bedroom house was later found engulfed in flames.
The accused is Junior Richardson, otherwise called ‘Mr Chin’, of Cassava Walk, Albion District, St James.
According to the Barnett Street police, the incident happened about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, when Richardson allegedly became involved in an argument with a man with whom he had an ongoing dispute.
The disagreement reportedly turned physical, with both men allegedly hurling bottles and stones at each other.
The man eventually left the scene but reportedly returned later to find his two-bedroom home engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from the Montego Bay Fire Department responded and carried out cooling-down operations.
Richardson’s brother, Leon Sweaney, was charged in connection with the incident on Monday, October 12.
Richardson, who was being sought by the police, was arrested in his community on Tuesday, October 13. He was subsequently charged with arson following a question-and-answer session.
A court date is being finalised.
