Former Director of Elections is dead
Former Director of Elections, Noel Lee, passed away last night at the University Hospital of The West Indies where he was being treated for an undisclosed illness.
Lee was 82 years old.
THE STAR understands that Lee was ailing for sometime, and family members checked him into the hospital on Monday.
Lee's cousin, Desmond Duval, confirmed his passing last night.
Lee served as director of elections in Jamaica from 1980 to 1993.
He would go on to take the Jamaican election model to numerous countries, as well as participating in elections across the globe in various capacities.
Lee also served as Chief of Mission for the CARICOM Electoral Observation Mission in 2009.
