Ardenne student drowns at YMCA

The police have confirmed that a 14-year-old student of the Ardenne High School died as a result of a possible case of drowning yesterday afternoon.

THE STAR understands that the third form student, Jevaughn Brown, died while swimming at the YMCA pool in St Andrew about 4 p.m.

Information reaching our news desk is that lifeguards at the facility were alerted to a shadow in the pool, and upon investigation, Brown was seen at the bottom of the pool.

He was subsequently fished from the water and rushed to hospital.

THE STAR gathered that he died while being resuscitated.

Up to press time last night the St Andrew Central police were still carrying out investigations.
