Student injured in school shooting
The Trinityville police have launched a probe into a school invasion in which residents allegedly stormed the Robert Lightbourne High School in St Thomas yesterday resulting in a student being shot by a licensed firearm holder.
THE STAR understands that a 15-year-old student was injured after a shot was fired by a teacher, who is also an ex-soldier.
According to the police, there was an altercation at the school between students, some of whom left and returned with outsiders who were armed with machetes and stones.
THE STAR gathered that the teacher attempted to disperse the crowd and fired shots into the air.
The student was standing upstairs in his classroom when he was shot in his leg.
Our news team gathered that the weapon was taken for testing and the teacher questioned by the police.
The injured student was treated and released.
