Three charged for weed
More than 400 pounds of ganja was seized and three persons arrested on Old Harbour Bay main road, St Catherine on Tuesday.
Charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, trafficking ganja and taking steps preparatory to export ganja are: 43-year-old Derrick Reid, fisherman of Harbour View, St Andrew; 27-year-old Wolford Scully, auto body repairman; and 52-year-old mason, Hugh O'Connor, both of Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine.
Reports from the Old Harbour Police are that about 1:30 p.m., police conducting vehicle check point operations signalled the driver of a grey Toyota Corolla motorcar with three men aboard to stop.
The driver complied and the car and its occupants were searched and several parcels of ganja seized. A search warrant was later executed and eleven knitted bags with ganja found at the home of one of the men.
The drug totalled approximately four hundred and twenty-five pounds has an estimated street value of over $2.5 million.
They are to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday, January 27.
