‘No more noise’ - Hope Pastures residents say no to events at the Gardens

July 19, 2021

In the 16 months since the start of the pandemic, president of the Hope Pastures Citizen Association, Michael Williams, says this is the most peace his community has ever got.

Prior to the lockdown of the entertainment industry last March, residents of Hope Pastures say they were constantly plagued by raunchy music and other loud disruptions from events taking place at the Hope Gardens and Hope Zoo.

"We have a large, retired population, but we have children in school and working people who need their sleep!" he said.

Since the pandemic, Williams say they have enjoyed an unprecedented quiet. "We are happy and peaceful," he told THE STAR.

The ban on entertainment events was lifted on July 1, paving the way for event promoters to go about the business of staging parties and fetes. Williams, however, is hoping that the authorities do not entertain proposals for any entertainment events to be held at Hope Gardens.
