Suspected suicide at Tower Street correctional centre

An investigation is currently underway into the suspected suicide of an inmate at the Tower Street Adult Facility in Kingston.

The deceased has been identified as Leroy Bailey, who was serving time for murder.

It is reported that sometime this morning a headcount was being conducted at George Davis Centre at the facility when on reaching Bailey’s cell, he was seen motionless in a standing position with a piece of cloth round his neck.

Bailey was cut down and taken to the Kingston Public Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead.

The STAR understands that the police and a team from the Independent Commission of Investigations have since visited upon the facility.
