13 killed last week, says JCF
According to the latest Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) serious crimes statistics, 13 persons were murdered on the island last week.
This follows other recent reports that indicated 33 were murdered in the first 13 days in the new year. This means 46 persons have been killed since January 1.
Kingston Western and Thomas are the only police divisions so far without a homicide, while as at January 20, all other police divisions recorded one or more murders.
This figure represents a 19 per cent reduction year on year or 11 fewer homicides than the period under review in 2023.
The St James police division with 11 murders tops the list of most murderous so far this year.
This is followed by St Ann and St Catherine North with six each and Manchester, Kingston Central and St Catherine South with three each.
