We are ready, says StGC's Gayle
Despite last Saturday's disappointing ISSA-FLOW Manning final Cup loss to arch-rivals Jamaica College, St George's College (StGC) assistant coach-Marcel Gayle says his team is motivated and will be fully focused to successfully defend their Walker Cup title, against Wolmer's Boys today.
The match is scheduled for the Stadium East playing field, at 3 p.m.
"We are human beings it was a tough loss in the Manning Cup final, but we are ready to come again and play for another trophy.
"We will have the full complement of players, everybody will be up for the game and we are motivated. to win," Gayle told STAR Sports yesterday, following a training session at Winchester Park.
Gayle added that the Manning Cup loss dented StGC's title ambitions of four pieces of silverware this season, but maintains that they are looking to bow out on a high with the Walker Cup still in their grasp.
"We are in a final and we are just going to carry our best game forward today. Everybody is up for the game, we have the full complement of players and the guys want to keep this Walker Cup," he stressed, while noting "the field will allow us to play good football."
Gayle stressed that his StGC team will be looking to remain confident, stick to their philosophy and play positive football to overcome a Manning Cup 2013 penalty defeat to Wolmer's Boys and 2012 Walker Cup defeat.
