Diamond Clash - Men’s Shot Put

With O'Dayne Richards' rise among the elite shot put competitors on the planet, Jamaicans have been paying closer attention to the event over the past couple of seasons.

This weekend's Shanghai Diamond League will pit the Jamaican strong man against the world champion Joe Kovacs and a host of other top throwers including Chris Cantwell, Ryan Whiting and Tom Walsh.

Richards, a bronze medal winner at the World Championships held in this country last August, will be looking to get one over his American rival as they flex their muscles ahead of a crucial summer. The last time they faced each other in Brussels last year, Richards got the better of the American, but Kovacs has dominated this head-to-head finishing ahead in the previous four.
