All set for Police National Athletic Championship
The Jamaica Constabulary Force, in collaboration with the Police Co-Op Credit Union and brokerage firm, Mayberry Investments, will host its 44th Annual Athletics Championships at the Police Sports Complex, Lower Elletson Road tomorrow.
Final preparations and plans for the event are under way, with a host of activities and races set for the day.
The national event will showcase members of the JCF, who will engage in friendly rivalry, including the 100 metres and 200 metres sprints for male and females.
The championship will see seven divisions/areas competing for the new Mayberry Investment /Jamaica Police Co-Op Credit Union trophy.
The previous Police Co-Op Credit Union trophy will be retired to Area Eight, who won the championship for seven consecutive years.
Area Eight has been defending champions since 2007 but will have to dig deep or wave the magic wand to hold on to their title.
Area One, who were beaten by Area Eight by 92 points, have done their homework and are poised to take the championship title for 2016. Area Three and Area Four, who tied for third place in 2015, must not be left out of the quest for the championship.
Invitational races will feature local clubs and institutions such as Mico, GC Foster College, Camperdown High, Vauxhall High and Police Youth Clubs.
