GK season's Jamaica's Olympic pot

GraceKennedy Foods, a division of the GraceKennedy Group is delighted to be selected once again as the official food and nutrition sponsor of the 2016 Jamaica Olympic team in Brazil.

Grace will provide food and nutrition for the team during the 12-day camp leading up to the start of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, beginning August 5. The company will also again send chef, Karl Thomas, who will be in charge.

Andrea Coy, Chief executive officer of Grace Kennedy Foods, Jamaica said that her company is happy to be back on board.

"Grace Foods is truly honoured to again be playing such a critical role on the well-being of our athletes. We will be bringing good quality Jamaican food to our athletes in Rio as we believe that this will help them to give of their best," Coy said during a media briefing session at GraceKennedy offices yesterday.

Thomas, who represented Grace Foods at the 2012 Olympic Games, will be brought in once again to oversee the preparation of meals for the athletes.

"This will be my second time as the official chef for the Jamaica Olympic team and I'm very honoured and grateful for the opportunity to once again not only represent Grace Foods, but to ensure that our athletes have balanced nutritious meals," Thomas said.

Jamaica Olympic Association president Michael Fennell it is a "fantastic move" to have Grace Foods back.

"This is absolutely fantastic, prescribed menus of a wide range of food at the camp allow for food accustomed to. The more we can provide nutrition similar to home is always good for the athletes. Grace assisted us initially in 2012, but this is bigger," Fennell pointed out.
