NEW ORLEANS (CMC):

Jamaican Shaun Bridgmohan carved out narrow victories to win two of the six added-money events on the 12-race card at Fair Grounds here Saturday.

The 37-year-old partnered with favourite Cash Control to win the US$75,000 Blushing K. D. Stakes by a head in race five and returned in race seven to pilot 4-1 bet Western Reserve to victory by a nose in the $75, 000 Buddy Diliberto Memorial Stakes.

Bridgmohan also added race 12 to his tally when he scored with 3-1 chance Pam's Meadow in a 5-1/2 furlong sprint, to move to 11 wins and earnings of $238 470 in the season which began November 19 and wraps April 2 next year.

Bridgmohan's opening win came over a mile and sixteenth, when he carried five-year-old bay mare Cash Control to a squeaker over the three-year-old and upward fillies and mares, in a time of one minute, 42.92 seconds.

Freudie Anne set the early pace with splits of 23.44 seconds for the first quarter-mile and 48.24 at the half, as Bridgmohan and Cash Control tracked from second on the outside.

Approaching the quarter-pole, Cash Control attacked the leader and Kitten's Roar followed, with the pair hitting the front. Kitten's Roar poked her nose in front at the sixteenth pole but Bridgmohan clawed back to get Cash Control to the wire first on the head bob.

In the Buddy Diliberto also over a mile and sixteenth, Bridgmohan steered four-year-old gelding Western Reserve to victory by a nose over the three-year-old and upwards.
