Administrative director for the Institute of Sports (INSPORTS), Ian Andrews, has been suspended by the Lloyd Pommells-led board of directors pending an investigation into allegations of misconduct, a release from the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports said yesterday.

According to the release, the board advised the ministry of the move to suspend the administrative director, with pay, until investigations are finalised.

In Andrews' absence, the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports will oversee the operations of the institute until an acting administrative director is appointed.

The release also stated that Andrews has been ordered to hand over all INSPORTS-owned property to the permanent secretary in the ministry. It added that the ministry would make no further comment on the matter at this time.

STAR Sports tried to get more clarification on the matter, but calls to the phone of the board chairman went directly to voice mail.

Andrews, who had been employed at INSPORTS since 2004, has been embroiled in an ongoing impasse with the institute's board of directors for some time now.

The previous Don Anderson-led board removed Anderson's signing authority in 2015. However, it was later returned after a directive from the Ministry of Finance.
