With Montego Bay United and Tivoli Gardens idle, leaders University of the West Indies (UWI) FC will look to stretch their lead in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) when they face-off against struggling Jamalco FC at the UWI Bowl, Mona in East St Andrew, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Reigning champions MBU will host the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship group stage starting next Wednesday at the Montego Bay Sports Complex in St James. Hence, the MBU versus Tivoli Gardens fixture has been postponed.

UWI and MBU are on 43 points apiece, however UWI hold a superior goal difference in the 12-team RSPL competition. Tivoli comes next on 42 points.

The Marcel 'Fuzzy' Gayle-coached tertiary institution outfit are playing quality football and getting favourable results in games played, so they will look to run past Jamalco, who are in tenth position on 23 points.

no-nonsense defender

UWI key players include captain Rochane Smith, Keammar 'Dada' Daley, goalkeeper Amal Knight, no-nonsense defender Kemar Flemmings and striker Girvon Brown.

Meanwhile, Jamalco are struggling in their first season in the nation's elite league and will hunt a positive result to inch away from the drop-zone. Captain, Shantel Mundle, who scored a wonderful free kick in a 2-1 loss to Portmore United last week, will again lead the way. He should get valuable support from new recruits Andrew Phang and Micahelous Martin. Both players moved away from Arnett Gardens during last month's transfer window.

In another crucial game, fourth placed Humble Lion will look to move closer to the top when they challenge Reno at Effortville Community Centre in Clarendon.
