Promoted Sandals South Coast have started work on their Crocs Lawn home venue in preparation for their Premier League debut.

The team that is under the ownership of Sandals International made history by qualifying for the nation's elite league for the first time.

"Work is already in progress, started last Monday, and we are getting in soil to upgrade the playing surface at Crocs Lawn," head coach Aaron Lawrence told STAR Sports.

"We will be bringing in the right contracts to also put in stands and other facilities to make the stadium top class. When it is completed, we want to make it available for international games," the former Reggae Boyz goalkeeper disclosed.

He declared that with the Premier League set to kick off September 3, the plan is to have the ground ready.

"The venue has to be ready. If not before, it will be ready during the season. I'm happy with everything going forward. It takes proper planning. We don't want to rush things. We want to make it the best in Jamaica," Lawrence said.

"Sandals is fully behind the team. It is not a club. The team is owned by the hotel," he added.

Lawrence also shared that the players and their spouses will be taken on a cruise tomorrow to celebrate the team's qualification.

With regards to bolstering the team for next season, Lawrence said players are already calling.

"We have a lot of players calling and we will be looking at them in order to make the right choices," he said.
