Work will begin on Crocs Lawn the home of newly promoted Red Stripe Premier League team Sandals South Coast today.

The team's coach, Aaron Lawrence, had told STAR Sports prior to his team's qualification to the nation's top-flight league that work would start on the field as soon as the deal (qualification) was done.

"We want to make it as early as possible in order to start work on the field. If we qualify on Sunday (June 25), we will start working on the field on Monday (June 26). We also plan to put in stands and changing rooms to meet the requirement. The field will be one of the best in the island," Lawrence had bragged ahead of the game against Rivoli United that they lost 1-4 at Prison Oval.

That was delayed as a loss to Rivoli in the play-offs had meant qualification took a little longer than planned for the Westmoreland team. They qualified for the first time two weeks ago, and now work on upgrading the Crocs Lawn playing surface is set to start after an assessment by the contractors last weekend.

"The contractors have already assessed the field and everything is going to plan. Work is set to commence tomorrow (today)," Lawrence told STAR Sports yesterday.

Meanwhile, Lawrence said players are lining up to join the squad. With regards to preseason preparation for the Premier League, Lawrence said that players are calling.

"The players are calling about preseason, which will start on Monday, July 23," he said.

For the opening game, Sandals is tentatively set to play reigning champions Arnett Gardens on September 3.

As a qualification prize, team members and their spouses were treated to a cruise by the Sandals management.
