Tivoli go in search of prolific striker

Tivoli's Tevin Shaw loses his balance as he is tackled by Reno FC's Kavar Walker in a Red Stripe Premier League game at the Frome Sports Ground on November 20, 2016. Tivoli Gardens FC won the contest 2-1.

Tivoli Garden's coach Omar Edwards is aiming to finish higher in next season's Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) that is set to kick-off on September 3 and are in search of a left-back, a central midfielder and a prolific striker for the new season.

After four weeks of pre-season, Tivoli Gardens are yet to touch their Edward Seaga Sports Complex turf as they are working on the playing surface. That means the coach has been preparing the team with some gym work in order to strengthen the players.

"We hope to hit the field in the next two weeks, probably a week before the start of the new premier league season. During the time, we have to find creative ways to get it right," Edwards told STAR Sports yesterday.

"The preparation is going good. Our aim is to improve the condition of the players. We have opened the door for trials and have seen a few players during warm-up games to boost the squad," he shared.

After looking good during the preliminary stage last season, Edwards went away on a 11-week coaching programme in Hungary, and the team lost to Portmore United in the quarter-final.

"Our overall aim, like other clubs is to win the title. We qualified for the top six early (last season), then went down in the quarter-final. However, we won the Jackie Bell knockout title to finish the season," Edwards said.
