ARNETT Gardens Premier League head coach and national assistant Jerome Waite has encouraged his players called to national duty for a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago to make the most of the opportunity.

Arnett had three players called to a 18-man squad by coach Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore that will begin training today for the game on August 24 at the Hasley Crawford Stadium in Trinidad. Match time is 7 p.m. The Arnett players are Marvin Morgan, Vishinul Harris and first time call-up Fabian Reid.

With the friendly international to be played on a non-FIFA date, the 18 players selected are local-based. It also serves as part of the Jamaica Football Federation's plan to expose more local talent in the national team.

"First and foremost, these players have to understand the importance of the opportunity to be a part of the national senior team. They must take it serious as it is good for their development as young players," Waite told STAR Sports yesterday.

"These players did well during Arnett's successful campaign in last season's Red Stripe Premier League and, at all times, it narrows down to performance. It is the right opportunity for them at a time when we are thinking about long-term development towards the 2022 World Cup qualifiers,"the four-time national champion coach pointed out.

"It is a good feeling to see these three players in the national team. Vishinul Harris and Morgan have represented the country in the past, but for Fabian Reid it will be a first time," Waite pointed out, adding that the door is not closed on players not included.

'We will continue to look at other players from different clubs in order to come up with the right chemistry for the programme," he said.

The full squad is: Amal Knight (UWI), Jamie Robinson (UWI), Ladale Ritchie (Montego Bay United), Javain Brown (Harbour View), Rosario Harriott (Harbour View), Alex Marshall (Cavalier SC), Kaheem Parris (Cavalier), Shawn Genius (Reno), Marvin Morgan (Arnett Gardens), Vishinul Harris (Arnett), Fabian Reid (Arnett), Leonardo Rankine (Sandals South Coast), Shamar Nicholson (Boys' Town), Shaven-Sean Paul (Portmore United), Michael Binns (Portmore United), Ewan Grandison (Portmore United), Ricardo Morris (Portmore United) and Rondee Smith (Portmore United).
