Shaw: Youngsters exhibiting right attitude
President of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Wayne Shaw said he was very pleased with the quality that was on display in this year's Milo Under-13 and Nesfruty Under-15 competitions.
Shaw told STAR Sports, following Thursday's presentation at NestlE head office in St Catherine, that there were many improvements in the standard of the competition. He said that he as also very impressed with the attitude of the youngsters.
"I think we achieved our objectives this year, and I think that it will be much better next season because the sponsors were pleased. So I expected a much bigger and better competition next year," said Shaw.
"A lot of goals were scored, and the standard of the competition was very high this year, so this is great for the development of our football," Shaw said.
He added that the players enjoyed a lot of the products that was provided by the sponsors throughout both competitions.
"The players enjoyed themselves, and they enjoyed the Milo truck coming to the games because they got free Milo and Nesfruty drinks. So they had a lot fun," said Shaw, while adding that the competition was well run despite a few challenges at the start.
"Both competitions were good. We had some challenges because we started late, but a part from that, it was well run," said Shaw.
Harbour View emerged champions of the both Under-13 and Under-15 competitions.
Harbour View defeated Real Mona 1-0 to win the Under-13, while they defeated Santos 2-0 to capture the Under-15 crown.
Dujuan Richards from Harbour View was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Under-13 competition, while Ronaldo Clarke from Harbour View was awarded the MVP of the Under-15 competition.
This year's competition was sponsored to the tune of $8,000,000 by NestlE, while associate sponsors Port Authority contributed $400,000 in sponsorship to both competitions.
