Waite backs Arnett to overturn 3-0 deficit
Arnett Gardens coach, Jerome Waite, said his team has overturned big deficits before and is confident they can do it again when they square-off against Arabe Unido of Panama in their CONCACAF League round-of-sixteen return leg game at the National Stadium tomorrow.
Arnett Gardens lost the first leg 3-0 but Waite said the team took a lot of positives from the fact that they created many scoring chances against the Panamanians in Panama, and he is confident they can do the same tomorrow. He added, however, that putting away the chances will be very important.
"It's a very difficult task, getting back three goals is not easy. But the fact that we created six clear chances away from home, is one positive we can take into the game," Waite told STAR Sports. "So with this match at home, we know we will create chances but it's for us to convert. But we have fought our way out of positions like this already, and we know we are capable of scoring four goals."
He insists that the support from the fans will be crucial if they are to get back into the tie, but he said the players must lead by their performances on the field of play, and from that the energy will transmitted to the fans in the stands.
"The supporters are always behind the Arnett Gardens team. They (Arabe Unido) have the upper hand but once the players can do a good job and give that extra push it will get the supporters involved, and that will be important."
