#Carifta2022 | Jamaica break Carifta U20 4x100 record
Jamaica;s under-20 boys followed up their female counterparts World Record with a record-breaking run of their own, lowering the under-20 4x100 Carifta mark inside the National Stadium this evening.
The team of Bouwahjgie Nkrumie, Sandrey Davison, Bryan Levell and DeAndre Daley powered to victory in a time of 39.15 seconds, lowering the 39.38 the country set back in 2014.
The Bahamas were second in 40.41, while the Cayman Island mined bronze in 40.72.
As was the case with the girls, a bullet start, proved the field's undoing with little more than 50 metres out of the way.
Nkrumie, getting off to his usual quick start, handed over to Levell, who moved down the backstretch with apparent ease, though the distance he was creating between himself and the rest of the field told a different story.
A slow baton changeover with Daley never looked a problem as the fleet-footed Herbert Morrison Technical High School standout, got into top gear and handed over cleanly to the giant-striding Davison.
Davison had no equal over the ground down the final stretch and though the world mark was safe, the Carifta record was gone.
