Birthday King lone banker in challenging Reggae 6

October 08, 2026
WHISKY, ridden by Dane Dawkins, wins the fifth race over 5 1/2 furlongs at Caymanas Park on Saturday, September 26.

LIFE IS LIGHT at 12-1 and MODERN MONARCH at 10-1 were both second-choice picks in last weekend’s ‘Reggae 6 Snaps’, two of three upsetters, who pushed the payout to $832,662 on each of six winning tickets.

ATOMIC ENERGY shook the opening event at odds of 12-1, followed by LIFE IS LIGHT and a consecutive second-choice pick, SLAM SHARP, who won the third at 2-1, turning the tables on first-choice GOOD CONSCIENCE.

HIT N RUN, touted as one of the day’s bankers, won the fourth at 8-5 before MODERN MONARCH struck at 10-1, selections that must have influenced winners who spent from as low as $1,620 to $19,200, proving exotics can be collared by frugal bettors.

Saturday’s Reggae 6 appears really challenging, prompting caution and the urge to avoid bankers save American BIRTHDAY KING, going for his second win from as many starts.

BIRTHDAY KING won at three furlongs straight on debut, appearing to prefer more ground, a wish granted at five and a half furlongs.
