He doesn't know I have a child

Dear Pastor,

I am writing to you because I have a problem. I am 24 years old and I am the mother of one child. I can say that this child does not have a father because the father never accepted him.

I work and support him. My child lives with my parents. I am attending a church and I got baptised, and nobody in the church knows that I have a child.

Everybody believes that I do not have children. When Mothers' Day came around last year and they were giving out roses to all mothers, I did not stand up to receive mine.

Now, pastor, there is a brother in the church who loves me and he told me that he has always wanted a woman who never had a child.

I was tempted to tell him that I have a child, but the words could not come out of my mouth. I don't know what to do because he wants us to become engaged and get married in June of this year.

I love him and he has started to give me money to pay my rent. Please, I am begging you to tell me what to do.

O.M.

Dear O.M.,

Inform this man that you have a child.

Tell him that you are under conviction and you want to come clean. Tell him you love him too, but you do not want to be a deceiver, so you believe that you should let him know the truth.

If he forgives you for lying and agrees to marry you, after both of you are married, take your child to church. Never be ashamed of your child.

Pastor
