17 and dating a married man

February 28, 2017

Dear Pastor,

I am 17 years old. I am writing to you because I need your advice. I am dating a married man. He is 27 years old. He and his wife are not getting along so well. Before I got into a relationship with him, I told him that he should stick to his wife, etc. I don't know what has come over me. I still date him because I love him very much.

He is a very nice person. He briefly explained what was happening between him and his wife. He also told me that he was young and naOve at the time he got married to her. He doesn't speak to her as much as how a husband and wife should have a relationship. She has been overseas for more than five years now.

I haven't had sex with him because I don't want to get myself involved with him as yet, especially since he is still married. I really like this guy.

What if he divorces his wife for some reason and wants to get married to me? Is it a problem to get married to him after he divorces his wife?

Please, I need your advice.

Dear S.W.,

Most times when a married man wants to become sexually involved with another woman, especially when she is young and naOve like you, he tells her that he and his wife are not getting along very well and that they are on the verge of breaking up. That is the line that these men use, and most times, they are lying.

Generally, after they have got the girls to agree to become intimate with them and they use the girls and they are tired of them, they change their story and tell them that they are working things out with their wives, so they can't see them again.

However, they also add that if the girls are willing to continue with them, it's all right, but they are going back to their wives. Girls must never forget that men are liars, and they will do almost anything to get under a woman's skirt.

Having said the above, may I say to you that this relationship that you are developing with this man is not solid and that danger lies ahead.

End it now! Don't believe a word this man says. Save yourself from trouble. You are 17 years old. Get yourself an education and leave this man alone.
