Women always care about money

Dear Pastor,

Greetings to you. I am 23 years old and my girlfriend is 25. She is living abroad, but is planning to come to Jamaica for us to get married. The date she suggested to me is not acceptable to my relatives. They are saying that this is the period of Lent so people should not get married during this period. But that is the time that she can get away from her work. They feel bad luck will follow us. My girlfriend says that it is foolishness so I should make up my mind what I want to do and let her know.

That is the purpose of my letter to you. Keep up the good work.

L.E.

Dear L.E.,

I know there are few main-line churches that don't do marriages during the period of Lent. However, I don't know if they teach that so-called 'bad luck' or evil will befall couples who get married during this season. I doubt that very much. If the date that this woman has is the most convenient time for her to come to Jamaica (and it cannot be changed) to marry you, I would suggest that both of you go ahead and get married.

Please understand that I am not attacking the custom of any church, I'm only trying to help you. If you have difficulties in finding someone who would officiate at your wedding, I would volunteer to do so for you. Feel free to contact me. I wish both of you the very best.
