Looking for a Christian man

Dear Pastor,

I am writing for your help. I am a 23-year-old woman. I will be 24 this year. However, I am looking for a male friend, someone who is a Christian, respectful, smart, friendly and ambitious individual, someone who is ready to date and is in my age group.

Pastor, I am looking for someone who is from Kingston or St Andrew. I am a woman of God who needs a man of God. I am a working woman, and I can help myself.

I am looking forward to your response.

Pastor, I need your help.

C.

Dear C.,

Men and women of God should look within the Christian community for life partners. You say that you are a woman of God, so I am assuming that you are a praying woman.

To look outside the Christian faith for a partner would be unwise and you would be exposing yourself to too much trial. I know that not everybody would agree with me, but the very Bible you read encourages Christians to date and marry other Christians.

The Bible says that for two people to live and walk together they have to agree, and it also says in 2 Corinthians 6:14, Christians should not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever.

So, while I may be willing to pray for you because you feel the need for a man, I would caution you to choose a man who has great respect for the Christian faith as you do.

One more caution before I go. Never be in a hurry to get married. Date as many Christian men as possible. Get to know them well before you choose one to go steady.

Not all Christian men speak the truth about themselves. Not all Christian men are honourable. Not all Christian men are willing to allow women to chart their own future and to stand up for what they believe.

Some Christian men believe that their wives are maids and that they should do all the housework and just take care of children.

Although a man may say that he loves and respects a woman, he may find it difficult to take her as an equal partner in a relationship.
