Can't find a boyfriend

April 19, 2017

Dear Pastor,

Though I am not a Christian yet, I am a God-fearing individual and I love Him with all my heart. If it wasn't for Him, I wouldn't have passed 10 CXCs.

I am a loving, kind, beautiful and good-hearted person so I don't know why I don't have a boyfriend as yet. Men have texted me seeking to date me, but they are just not my type.

I haven't had a boyfriend for three years. And back then, the relationship only lasted for two or three months. I hardly get attracted to anyone, and when I do, I don't approach them.

I think that's because of my low-self-esteem. I am afraid they will laugh at me. I have prayed to God countless times in the past, asking him for a boyfriend, but I just don't see anyone coming.

At first I was OK with it, because I just wasn't ready; but now I am ready. I am really tired of seeing everyone around me with their boyfriend. I am the only one who doesn't have a boyfriend.

What should I do, Pastor? I'm 19 and I am not living like one. However, there's this guy at my school, I'm really attracted to him. But I know that I won't approach him, and I hate myself for that.

I'm really tired of watching all these guys who I like from a distance.

What should I do, Pastor? Please help me.

Dear V.G.,

Don't worry, you'll get a man. God has a special one for you. God is answering your prayer. You may think that all the guys you like will turn you away, but perhaps they are afraid to approach you just as how you are reluctant to approach them.

So I suggest that you make the approach and show interest in them.

This young man that you admire so much, invite him out to see a play or somewhere that you would love to go. If he says no, don't be embarrassed about that, just try another.

Learn to carry yourself well and to hold good conversation. Nothing is wrong with you. Some girls get many dates while others get very few.

Continue to pray and God will help you to meet your needs. I'll be praying for you too.
