I just can't get pregnant

Dear Pastor,

I am 27 years old and I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I had a baby when I was 20 years old but he died in childbirth.

I went back to school to pursue my career in nursing. I am now a nurse and in a stable job. I feel incomplete.

My boyfriend of almost two years says that he is fine whether or not we get a child, but I am sure he would love to get one. I am not sure what the problem is. My tubes are not blocked or anything.

So, I would do anything to get a child. Just one and I will be happy. I get depressed when I think of not having one; I know it sounds silly. Please help me. What can I do?

S.

Dear S.,

First of all, I regret hearing that your baby died and I wish that I had an answer to give you that would cause you to get pregnant instantly, so to speak. But I don't.

You are a nurse and I am sure that you have discussed your problem with doctors. I am also sure that they have told you that it is a possibility that you can get pregnant again.

But I am sure that all women become very anxious about getting pregnant, especially as they see that they are getting on in age and nothing is happening.

Your boyfriend has been encouraging you not to fret but it appears as if nothing will comfort you. I can't say more than what your doctors told you.

If your boyfriend is willing to marry you, get married and relax and wait on God. My prayers are with you.
