2012 murder case for mention March 4

February 22, 2016

The four defendants in the 2012 murder of Salt Spring, St James, resident Rodell Hall are to make their next appearance in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on March 4.

Clyde and Nesta Morlese of Patty Hill, Hanover, and Sheldon Russell from Salt Spring, St James, had their bails extended when they appeared in court on Thursday. Their co-accused, Damaine Samuels, was remanded.

The four are charged in connection with Hall's shooting death on February 4, 2012, after the taxi in which he was a passenger was reportedly ambushed by gunmen at about 2:10 a.m. along the Salt Spring main road.

The passengers were ordered out of the car and Hall attempted to escape, but he was shot and later died.

The court was told that discussions were to have been held between the prosecution and representatives from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, for a nolle prosequi (a formal notice to cease prosecution of a case) to be entered in the matter.

However, it was revealed that, while documentation had been faxed between the parties to that effect, the documentation had omitted the information on Samuels.

As a result, Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small set the case for further mention on March 4.
