Man charged after allegedly claiming he had a gun
A Westmoreland mason is facing criminal charges after he allegedly threatened to kill his brother-in-law while claiming he had a firearm.
Charged with professing to have a firearm is 27-year-old Lorenzo Patterson, a mason of Llandilo Phase 1, Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.
According to the Savanna-la-Mar police, the drama unfolded about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 7, when Patterson reportedly turned up at his brother-in-law's home.
An argument allegedly erupted between the men, during which Patterson reportedly threatened to kill his brother-in-law while claiming to be armed with a firearm.
Fearing for his life, the man reportedly rushed to the police station and made a report.
The report triggered an investigation, and later that same day, police carried out an operation in the Llandilo community.
Patterson was apprehended during the operation and taken into custody.
The complainant subsequently provided a statement implicating Patterson, who was later charged.
His court date is being finalised.
