Mini rifle found hidden in Montego Bay house

Police seized a .223 Wylde mini rifle and 13 rounds of ammunition during an operation at a house in Gut Hill, Granville, Montego Bay, St James, on Monday.

Reports from the St James police are that about 1:50 p.m., a team conducted a search of a two-bedroom house.

During the search, the lawmen reportedly found the rifle hidden inside a chest of drawers in one of the bedrooms.

The firearm was reportedly loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of .223 live ammunition.

Two people were arrested in connection with the seizure.

However, their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

The police operation forms part of ongoing efforts to remove illegal firearms and ammunition from communities in St James.
