Red Stripe Premier League leading goalscorer Fabian Reid of Arnett Gardens said that his ultimate goal this season is to break Roen Nelson's all-time record of scoring 30 goals in a premier league season.

Reid moved to 15 goals last Sunday when he netted a hat-trick against struggling Sandals South Coast FC.

He leads the race for the Golden Boot ahead of previous leader Javon East of Portmore United who has scored 13 times so far.

With ten games remaining in the preliminary stage, and if Arnett makes the top six qualification, more to play, Reid is confident that he will top the chart at the end of the season.

"Last season, I came into the team in January and played about six different positions. I am a natural forward so after a discussion with the coach this season, I was put in the forward role," Reid told Star Sports on Thursday before a training at the Anthony Spaulding Complex. .

"I set out to be the leading scorer and have put in the work and now I am at the lead. Before the season started, I got an interview and told them that the aim is to win the goal scoring award," he added.

"I know that I can score over 20 goals, so if I reach 30, I can break Roen Nelson's record in the national league. That is my main aim. However, if I reach 20-odd I would be good with that," Reid said.

"I have to just continue working hard and continue to score goals so I will be given more opportunities in the national team," he added.
