A COLE WORL': Badman getting gun license?
A what gwaan a John shop? Is there any truth to claims that the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) has been issuing licenses to men with 'adverse traces?' A ask mi a ask enuh, cause I don't want to ketch it. I read about a case where members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are furious about the FLA's actions, and if a suh it guh, they have all right to be.
News ago round seh the FLA board last year granted licences to applicants who were previously denied by the former board due to adverse traces found during investigations by the intelligence arms of the police force.
I don't want to jump to any conclusion on this matter, cause I'm sure Shane Dalling, the CEO of the FLA, must have a solid explanation. I don't think he would intentionally take the FLA from a bad state to a worse-a state — even from a lapse of judgement point of view.
And I do sympathise wid the police. I often say that when the police do good we must encourage them, we can't be beating them down all the while. Now, if the police have done the necessary checks and found an individual wanting, my best bet is to lean towards what de police dem a say. Don't it?
Listen, if a suh the story guh, Mr Dalling's team need fi act quickly. Dem need fi have dialogue wid the JCF and nuh badda issue people gun license just like dat. Mr Dalling, yah lawyer enuh, we expect seh yuh ago dot all I's and cross all T's. Yuh might have lisp tongue but yuh sound like a virtuous man.
