New York-based reggae singer Tom Laing is hitting the ground running in 2017.

Laing, who was born in Trench Town, is known for songs such as Belly of the Beast, featuring Capleton, Finally Free, and Front Door.

His first release for 2017, King's Highway, is set to be released before the end of the month.

The track was leaked to radio last week and has been added to the playlists of several popular radio stations both locally and abroad.

"This is an excellent song. The fans are going to love it," Laing told THE WEEKEND STAR. "It has a very positive message. I always try my best to deliver songs that are inspiring and entertaining."

He also revealed he is currently preparing to shoot the accompanying video, which be shot in Jamaica.

"I've never done a video in my homeland before, and I am looking forward to doing this one there for sure. I've already received the treatment from the director, so as soon as everything is in place, we're going to get it done."
