Sizzla endorsed by popular rapper
Jamaican music has once again received a nod from an American celebrity. This time, it's in the form of platinum selling recording artiste Slim Jimmy from the duo Rae Sremmurd.
The duo is known for hits like No Type, No Flex Zone and the viral Black Beatles, which gave birth to the Mannequin Challenge. Slim Jimmy, who is apparently anticipating this year's Valentine's Day, recently advised his followers to listen to Sizzla Kalonji's Give Me A Try if they want to understand how to treat their women.
Sizzla Kalongi is currently in Grenada, where he is expected to perform at several events. However, his publicist Olimatta Taal, who spoke on his behalf, said the icon's music transcends age and time, which explains why even young American youth like Slim Jimmy can relate.
"Sizzla is a very humble artiste and he is revered internationally. He impacts so many genres of music, and that is why people can embrace his R&B side, reggae side, and lovers side. He has worked with several international acts before and has been sampled by people like 50 Cent, Jay Z and Ja Rule, so he has been on the international radar for a while now," she said.
Sizzla, who had his US visa reinstated last year, has performed at several shows in America in recent times. However, he is yet to reveal if he has worked with any overseas-based acts since getting the travel permit. Taal said anything is possible given the veteran's impressive resume.
She is also encouraging the new generation of artistes to make timeless music.
"I just want the youth to know that microwave music will not last. Sure it will give you a fast hype, but it will not stand the test of time," she said.
