Record label lends free service to develop artistes
Damanee Records, an artiste management company, has begun to take shape in streamlining those who falls under its mandate.
The company, which opened its doors in Spanish Town, St Catherine in December 2016, has been a game-changer for those pursuing music.
Among the artistes under its management are Parka Jubilant, Golden Voice, King Dave and other budding talent.
CEO of Damanee Records, Livingston Swinton, told THE STAR that the company will even teach persons the art of artiste management and music production.
Unlike many record labels, the company has also offered its service free of charge to new talents.
"Once persons are talented they can record for free or have a payment agreement for recordings. This presents an avenue for persons to showcase their talents despite the lack of ready funds," he said.
He said Damanee Records is "here to manage and produce artistes to do good positive music".
"For those who want to do management and production we want to work with them also. Music takes on many forms, therefore the total package is needed," Swinton said.
He revealed that even though the entertainment industry is very competitive, Damanee Records is enjoying being a part of preparing artistes for the global music industry.
Swinton is also batting for unity among industry players.
"The novel approach about Damanee Records is that it brings persons together. The challenge of selling fresh acts to be recognised musically ... such as on the airwaves is a serious problem which we are faced with. However I would like to see artistes stop fighting against each other in a derogatory way. I believe if they have a friendly rivalry, it will be quite rewarding," Swinton said.
