J'can acts for St Lucia music festival
Jamaican reggae sensations Christopher Martin and Etana as well as American crooner Musiq Soulchild will be featured on the line-up of the island's first ever Roots and Soul Festival under the Soleil brand.
The festival is the second of a new series of cultural and artistic events from May to November, called Soleil The Saint Lucia Summer Festival.
The festival will be staged at the iconic Pigeon Island National Landmark on June 17 and 18 and will be an event dedicated to musicians who are setting new trends in reggae, conscious hip hop, Afropunk and R & B.
Martin, whose hits include Cheater's Prayer, I'm A Big Deal, Under The Influence, and a reggae cover of Let Her Go by British singer Passenger, is set to take the stage on Saturday, June 17.
The festival will also feature some of Saint Lucia's finest, including Kayo, Rob Zii Taylor and Fourth World.
The show on Sunday, June 18, will bring some spectacular Father's Day performances.
It will feature Musiq Soulchild bringing his brand of neo soul to the festival with hits like Just Friends, Love, Half Crazy, Better Man, and Chocolate High, a duet with India Arie.
Headliner Etana is considered the leading contemporary voice in reggae music with hits like I am Not Afraid and Blessing. She will close the curtains with her blend of conscious reggae, lovers rock and pop.
