BRT Weekend starts in warm California
Memorial Day weekend in the US is expected to be intense and Beach Road Trip (BRT), an all-inclusive series of themed parties, is slated to contribute to the ferocity.
Hans-Peter Mullings, creator and organiser of BRT Weekend, told THE WEEKEND STAR that patrons should expect "a different experience with the Caribbean coming to them for three days."
BRT Weekend starts today and runs until Monday, Memorial Day in Palm Springs, California. Chris 'Party Minister' Foster, one of the organisers for BRT Weekend Palm Springs, said the excitement is at fever-pitch levels.
"Last year, because of the location, it was very nice in the daytime, but in the evening it got a little too cool.
So the ladies could not sport their wears and bikinis the way they wanted to. But, this year, it is going to be in sunny Palm Springs, the weather is going to be great so everybody is excited, looking forward to it, especially to the beach party, the j'ouvert party and the all-white party," he said.
While storms are expected to ravage parts of the US this weekend, the weather forecast for Palm Springs is for bright sunshine.
Jamaican artiste Charly Black and Kerwin Du Bois are set to perform at BRT Weekend.
"Charly Black is very excited about being on BRT Weekend. It is not his first time in California, but he never got a chance to perform for the people because it was raining," 'Party Minister' said.
Du Bois is known for his song Dat Bumpa (Too Real).
"Kerwin is a big fan of BRT, he loves being at BRT," said Party Minister, who described the event as "the second biggest Caribbean party in California."
