Stephen Marley for Sumfest
Eight-time Grammy-award winning artiste Stephen Marley has been added to the line-up of artistes for the 25th staging of Jamaica's annual Reggae Sumfest being held from July 16-22 in Montego Bay.
Marley, who along with his son Jo Mersa will turn up for the show, said he took a little break from touring this year and the opportunity to perform at Sumfest came up.
"It is just a great opportunity, and the time was perfect," said Marley.
"We are always proud to represent Jamaica anywhere, and to really come home with the vibe, we are excited and we nuh easy fi get excited," Marley said.
Underscoring that he loves performing in Jamaica, Marley said that he will be giving the people the kind of performances they have come to expect from him.
"Dem know what to expect ... They are going to hear the tune dem weh dem love and dem nuh get fi see me do dem tune yet."
The Raggamuffin said that Jo Mersa will excite with his "young, fresh energy."
Asked how he feels about performing at Sumfest 25, Marley said: "I am definitely proud to be a part of it."
Marley, also called 'Raggamuffin', is best known for singles such as Hey Baby, Rock Stone featuring Capleton and Sizzla and most recently Options, a collaborative effort with Latin artiste Pitbull that is currently performing well on the Billboard Dance Chart.
Thousands of reggae music fans will converge in the tourist capital for the weeklong festival dubbed the 'Greatest Reggae Show on Earth', to enjoy performances from the likes of Grammy award winners - Sean Paul, and Beenie Man and Billboard hitters, Sean Kingston, Jah Cure, Tory Lanez, and other major local acts.
