Any one who knows Desha Ravers is fully aware of her stunning sense of style.

Now, the lone female of the popular Ravers Clavers dancehall crew is turning that characteristic into a career.

Early this week, it was announced that she signed on to be Western Sports Ltd's official stylist.

Desha told THE WEEKEND STAR that she was approached by the general manager of Western Sports, Jeremy Owen.

"Basically, I'll be styling the store. I'll visit and advise on what can go together. I'll be changing up looks in the store," she said.

The dancer already has a vision, which aligns with Owen's.

"I want people to see that it's not just gym clothes but clothes for anything at all. There are clothes here that can be worn to parties," Desha said.

Likewise, Owen plans to market the brand by incorporating sports and music.

"I realise Western Sports is mainly used for sporting goods and apparel, but we have a large offering of lifestyle goods too. We have clothes for parties, going on the road, or even jobs, depending on what you do," he said. "We have been the number one sports retailer for almost 40 years, but we want to ensure people know we are a top destination for fashion. We have a lot of exciting things in the next couple of months."

Earlier this year, Western Sports signed Ding Dong, Shenseea and Creep Chromatic as store ambassadors.

"But we needed one more piece that would really put eyes on Western Sports as a destination to get apparel to express yourself," Owen said.

He said Desha's role would be very hands-on, and she would be consulted on some major decisions.

SUITED MATCH

"We are going to have her help select items we're ordering, and advise on how they're put together. She will help choose the type of people we use for photoshoots. I think it's well suited to her, and it works for both of us," he said.

Owen's confidence stems from their very first, impromptu photo shoot.

"That came about in just a few hours. We selected a few items and asked her to carry a few of her things. She put together some things we didn't think of," he said.

Desha is ecstatic at the new opportunity and said she always wanted to share her vision to show that there's no limit in fashion and wearing clothes.

"I've always wanted to style for music videos and stuff like that. So this has opened a big door for me. I think this is where it starts from," she said.
