Before venturing into music professionally, 16 Lavish decided to pursue a bachelor's degree in management and humanities at The Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts, in an effort to properly educate himself about his intended career choice.

Today, the young entertainer has had what he describes as a 'destined moment' as his first release for 2022, 888, has granted him some success. Produced by Yawdkore Music and released on January 21, the single garnered over 100,000 streams within its first week. The track, which primarily speaks about perseverance and staying focused, gives listeners a synopsis of 16 Lavish's journey through life and advice on how to combat negative energy.

"The numbers '8-8-8' are angel numbers that mean balance, everything is falling into place. The numbers just seem fitting for where I am presently, both in life and my career. My team and I put a solid marketing plan in place for this track and, so far, it has been proving to be successful. I am thankful for the outpouring of positive comments and I am even more proud that I could release a single my mother can listen to and share in my happiness".

unique track

The artiste leaves no stones unturned as he describes how life may force you to give up but, in his words, "small sacrifices reap big rewards".

"The track tells so many stories and what makes the track unique is the fact that all the different stories lead you to one conclusion; you have to keep going no matter how hard it gets and be proud of your small achievements, why because they lead to the big prize," shared 16 Lavish.

While the Portland-based recording artiste continues to make waves with 888, he shares that he and his team are putting tracks together for his official EP slated to be released this year.
